The Pika and Whistler R/D Longbows

   These bows are similar to our whip longbow in many regards however the Pika and Whistler are designed to function in a shorter bow length.  Archers under 28 inch draw can shoot a 54 inch longbow! Anyone who draws less than 30 inches can get into a 56 inch Pika. Longer draw you say? The 60 inch Whistler draws smoothly to 32 inches! 

   Both models are offered in our standard grip or leather wrapped classic grip. They can also be built as a one piece or two piece bow featuring the "bow bolt" take down mechanism.

 

Replacement strings?

You can order replacement strings for any current Toelke model on our Accessories page. Pre stretched fast flight strings designed specifically for your bow! All strings are endless loop aside from super-D strings(these will be flemish). All strings come with cat whiskers installed and are only available in brown and black.

 

 

Big congrats to Joshua G! 

Josh took a beautiful 6 point bull with a Toelke SS and a 570 grain arrow tipped with an Abowyer Head. He remarked that the bull didn't seem to know he was hit and simply wandered off to expire. Thanks for the great photo, a fun contrast to all the grip and grins.

SS/SSLR

   The Super Static recurve is a 64 inch semi static tip recurve. In its original version it has been a top choice for archers pulling 30-34 inches. Gaining well under two pounds per inch it is the definition of smooth.

   This longer recurve also caught the attention of many average draw length shooters. Leading us to consider ways to make the limb open sooner, increasing the performance for us 28-30 inch shooters. The solution was to lengthen the riser, shutting down the base of the limb. The SSLR(Super Static long riser) was born.

   This new light on the SS also lead us to think of the target potential of the SS and SSLR. We have built several with extra overlays to add mass and target recurve style grips.

   Introducing the Toelke “10X” competition longbow.  A 68 inch limb design on a extra long riser the 10X is built with a high speed torsionally stable reflex deflex limb. A large linen micarta riser adds the mass and stability desired by target archers. Held by a “target recurve” style grip the 10X is made to give you a competitive edge.

THE PIKA LONGBOW

   The "Pika" is always ready for an adventure. A short, durable design that lends itself well to most terrain as well as ground blinds, tree stands and saddles. 
  In a take down the Pika breaks down shorter than most archers arrows yet can be assembled in seconds, tool free. If you draw under 30 inches and are looking for a compact hunting bow research the "Toelke Pika". (shooters from 30-32 inches should look to the "Toelke Whistler").

THE Whistler

The Whistler was brought out in the spring of 2018. It got a lot of attention here in 2019 and is currently our most ordered bow! So what is the "Whistler"??

Well the story starts with our Pika(a new design as of 2015). The Pika is a short longbow offered in 54"&56" lengths. Designed as a short longbow that will draw smooth to 30" in the 56" and  28"+ in a 54".  With its popularity it only made sense to stretch the same parameters used in the Pika into a 58"&60 longbow. Using the same riser insert with a little more fade we produced a 60" longbow that drew comfortably to 32"! With the 58" bow quickly becoming a sweet spot for many archers in the 27-30" range. The Whip

   In the early days of Toelke Traditional Archery Dan Toelke went to work designing a reflex deflex longbow. Looking to eliminate hand shock and noise he came up with a petite, forgiving longbow that turned heads. The "Whip" now covers the globe in the hands of sportsmen, target archers and back yard recreationalists. Offered in all normal draw weights and lengths from 62-66"  the Whip is for everyone.

  Why the custom, steel frame, pneumatic, internally heated presses?

     If you have followed us for long you have probably seen our big presses and wondered "what makes that better than a standard form?" While they accomplish the same thing(squishing bows) they offer benefits for you as well as for us.
    We can easily make perfect blocks where top and bottom limbs are exactly the same improving limb timing.
     The pneumatic lift on the upper bed allows us to have complete control of lowering the top blocks. Only allowing progressive movement is critical for a perfect, air free bond.
     Internal strips heat the press before and during the process. Thanks to direct heat the epoxy becomes more viscus and gets better penetration. Heat during curing improves bond and creates higher temperature protection for your bow.

    Most importantly these presses and our careful methods have prevented us from having a single unexplained limb delamination or broken bow. Giving you more confidence when taking your bow to the field or range. Offering you more confidence in your purchase of a Toelke bow.

  DymaLux, A new riser option for your next Toelke bow.

DymaLux is a resin-infused, dyed birch laminate with density approaching that of our linen micarta. As of now we have this "walnut" color and will be adding more colors in time.
