Bowstrings

We build all of our strings in house and sell replacement strings for our bows. We recommend hunters remove their old string and save it for a spare, this way if you ever need the spare it is settled in and ready to go. For information on ordering check out our "Accessories" page above.

Replacement strings

Don't forget that we sell replacement strings for all of our bows. Endless loop for all designs except for the Super-D, for it we build Flemish twist. Our strings are made from high quality materials that have been chosen for their durability and performance on our bows. Standard strings are eight strand, Super-D strings are ten. Let us know if you have a very heavy bow as we may add two strands to prevent excessive settling.

We recommend taking off a settled string and saving it for a backup, this way if you ever damage one at a shoot or on a hunt you have a backup that is ready to go rather than a new string.
For more information check out our "Accessories" page.

Light mango

One of our top face veneer choices is Mango, you've been seeing the darker mango in our bows for a while but we also have some of this lighter mango with defined grain and varying amounts of grey splotching. We really like the way it looks so we built this 64" SS for inventory to show it off.

Best bows for long draw

We try to accommodate all archers including building bows that perform for the short draw archers, bows that open smoothly to extreme long draw and everyone in between! To best  handle you guys who have trouble finding arrows long enough (30"-33" plus draw length) we have a few great options!

Our 66" Whip Is buttery smooth (well under 3# per inch) to 33"+ draw lengths and performs! We have some guys shooting these at 34".

The 66" Lynx is also a great option drawing smoothly(again well under 3# per inch) to that 32"+ range.

Those looking for a recurve option our 64" SS is very easy to shoot and unbelievably smooth. We are building one right now for a customer ("Don"your bow is in the works!) the bow will be 51#@32" and  42#@28".  Simple math, 9 lbs in 4" is 2 1/4lb PER INCH from 28" to 32"! Hard to imagine how good that feels without drawing one yourself.

All of these bows can be built with grips to handle big hands. We have seen hand tracings that didn't fit on on a standard sheet of paper! With a little information we can make a bow that will truly fit you.

Thinking about a target bow?

Many target shooters these days are favoring longbows, we are seeing a large swing to light poundage 66" longbows. Our whip is a top pick with most customers inquiring about heavy riser materials. Shooters who want a larger riser with mass weight are shooting our Lynx, some running  66" reflex deflex longbow limbs and others the 60" recurve limb. Recurve shooters looking for the ultimate in limb stability also have the option of our 64"SS recurve.

As for draw weight many settle right around the 40 Pound mark, though with the light weight carbon arrows available now some are shooting mid 30s with light arrows getting flat trajectory and no fatigue.

If you are thinking about a target bow give us a call or email and see what we can do to fit your exact needs.

Another new year

Well we are a few days into 2016 and we are excited to continue on building bows to the best of our ability.  Here at Toelke Traditional Archery we build, shape and finish every bow. There are no computerized, automated, cooky cutter machines in our shop. This involved process means we are always searching for any little thing that might improve the quality of our bows.

Points of interest for the new year:

The 60" Chinook is back!

We have a new source for beaver tails in Brown and Black for Super-D and Classic bow grips. Im happy to announce the leather quality is better than we could have hoped!
And for you who havn't seen, we are also using Beaver tail for all of our arrow rests, were still not sure  how long they last but its darn near forever.

The Whip longbow is still our #1 selling bow and with over ten years of improvements it is ever more spectacular.

The pika is selling strong and we are getting great feedback from their owners, check out the talk on tradgang.com

The Bow bolt take down system in our bows is gaining popularity every year. Last year one fourth of our Whip's, Pika's, Chinook's and SS's were built around a Mycarta riser with a bow bolt.

And as always we have been hunting down leads on great hardwood for risers and limb veneers. Our wood room has some really nice stuff ready to go in your new custom bow.
