Lynx Longbow/Recurve

Mycarta/Cocobolo riser, juniper limb faces on longbow and gum Cherry faces on the recurve limbs.

Lynx longbow:  The lynx longbow limb was designed with the whip in mind. We wanted to keep that smooth feel and hush quietness. This we achieved in all four lengths along with great cast. A great choice for hunters and target archers.

Recurve limbs: These were designed with high energy storage and a full working tip. They perform great for a wide variety of draw lengths and are offered in 58" and 60" lengths.

Having both longbow and recurve limbs gives you the ability to switch from one to the other without changing your sight picture. We suggest ordering your longbow limbs a couple pounds heavier than the recurve. This will allow you to switch without changing arrows and give you the same cast.

HAVE QUESTIONS? NEED ANSWERS?

How do I choose between Recurve and longbow?

What bow length will perform best at my draw length?

What design will be easiest for me to learn on?

Do I order a Standard or Classic grip?

Dont let your questions go unanswered, we are more than happy to help you out. Our goal is to put a bow in your hands that is perfect for you, a bow that will take you where you want to go.

Eight years of the Whip

About eight years ago Dan was looking for a way to make a smoother, quieter reflex deflex longbow.  An experiment led to the invention of what became known as the Whip Longbow. This light, slender and extremely stable design caught on quickly.  Its uniqueness and fantastic features have set it apart from its competition. To this day it is our most popular design, earning its popularity from hunters to the most critiquing target shooters. If you have not tried the Whip check out our inventory or give us a call and have us build one to your specifications.

Two piece, or Three?

This is not a "which is better?" but rather "which is better for what purpose?"

To compare the two piece Whip, Chinook, Kestrel, or 64SS to the three piece Lynx would be like trying to compare a lion and a shark. The differences are to great, so instead lets look at how they contrast.

The two piece bow is a handy bow that can be broken down to save space in a matter of seconds. Those who desire a take down for the ease of travel, our two piece bows featuring the Bow Bolt take down system are top notch!

The Lynx can also be taken apart to save space but requires a wrench and takes a minute or two to perform. The best purpose for the three piece is having the option of limb sets in multiple draw weights or having both longbow and recurve limbs.

One, two or three, the choice is yours, the options are endless.

                                         Prouduct review: The Fast Stand

A great guy and fellow trad. archer from right here in Montana started making these handy 3D target stands 3 years ago. We use them on almost all our 3D targets and have had great results. No more stakes tipping over in loose ground, holes in your yard or having to grab a hammer to change the placement/angle of your targets. Just place the stands in your target, tip it up and your ready to shoot. He is making them available to the public and is ready for orders.

Cost per pair is arround  $45 Shipped to the lower 48, for quantity priceing and to place orders Contact Mike at:mstorm@montana.com

New Recurve from Toelke Traditional Archery

The 64 Super-Static Recurve

Like we did with our "Super-D" design we took a older bow style and revamped it!

This new design boasts a exceptionally smooth draw, low string angle and the quiet release Toelke bows are known for. The SS shows great performance that holds up even with heavyweight hunting arrows. Testing has shown it to like a 7 5/8" brace, much lower than most long recurves. It is offered in both our standard "Locator" grip and our leather covered "Classic" grip. The SS can also be built as a two piece with the Bow Bolt take down system! Price is $750 for the one piece and $975 for a two pice.

We are offering a limited edition run of ten, one piece bows, with upgraded wood that will be marked 64" Super Static and serial numbered 1of10 through 10of10 at a price of  $900.
Bow numbers 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are sold.

The Toelke "STANDARD"

Here at Toelke Traditional Archery we have given new meaning to the word "STANDARD" when referring to our custom bows. For instance, our bows come with your choice of hardwood  risers "STANDARD". They come with your choice of face veneers "STANDARD", do Bamboo cores cost more? No, they come "STANDARD" in your Toelke bow. Want an extra string for your new bow, it comes with two strings "STANDARD". You want your bow to be within 8oz of the ordered draw weight, we call that "STANDARD". How about getting a custom bow with a fitted grip to your specifications in under 8 weeks? Thats our "STANDARD" here at Toelke Traditional Archery.

We also offer a XX wood upgrade at $85 for which we find the best riser and limb veneers we can. Other than that a fully custom bow built to your wants and needs is just the "STANDARD".

Email or give us a call, lets talk about what you would like in your custom bow and how we can tune it to meet your needs. No we wont charge extra for that either, you guessed it, its standard.

Fit and Finish

FIT:   All our bows are hand shaped on heavy sanders and hand sanded, edges are neatly radiused. Recurve limb edges are radiused and Longbow limbs are trapped and radiused.

FINISH: Our bows are finished with "Thunderbird" epoxy finish.  We apply 10 coats, wet sand it smooth to 1000 grit(for hand rubbed finish), or buff it  for high gloss. Our matte finished bows get the same 10 coats, then are wet sanded and 3 coats of matte are applied over the clear. This gives a much better result than a milky buildup of matte(like most matte finished products). Leaving a no shine finish yet bringing out all the beauty of the wood and giving your bow a coating to handle any climate.

52" KESTRAL RECURVE

The Kestral recurve, unlike many short bows opens very smoothly to 29"+ with surprisingly little finger pinch. Like all of our recurves the Kestral has full working tips that lay open when drawn, decreasing string angle and keeping p.p.i. increase around 2.5 to 3 lbs. This unique limb design offers great performance for short and long draw archers. The kestral is often prefered by hunters using ground blinds, tree stands or just looking for a more compact bow. This model is also a top choice for turkey hunters.

Happy New Year

A special thank you to all of you who made 2012 such a great year for us! We built a record number of bows and predict an even busier 2013.

As promised we did a random drawing from the mountain of post cards we received and the winner read:

"Dear Mr. Toelke

 My dream bow would be:
A) A Toelke, (because I shot a Whip once and it really was a dream.)

B) Super-D model

C) 62"

D) 35#@26")

E) Light Myrtle riser with light Myrtle limbs.

Thank you,
                   Sarah *****, New York"

Congratulations to Sarah!  We look forward to building her Toelke dream bow.
